Chapter One

Magic is not something mysterious or arcane. It really has little to do with mysterious rituals, incantations and ceremonies done by the light of the moon. The truth is we all practice magic whether we know it or not. Magic is simply the application of our mind, will, and intentions and the results that come from it. Our words, thoughts, gestures, and actions are the tools in which we engage in magic. Divine magic is rare on earth today, for it is the most sublime practice humans can engage in. It is the effort to harness all that we do to create a better world, a culture of light and love, and the eradication of human suffering. 

Since the dawn of time there have existed organizations of highly evolved and enlightened souls that have guided humanity. These wise men and women go by many names: adepts, initiates, masters of wisdom, mahatmas, yogis, and so forth. These are the ones who consciously engage in the higher spiritual practice of divine magic. All their efforts go to improving life for the greater good of all. The reason true divine magic is so rare is that those who practice it do so with little thought of personal advancement or material gain. The whole idea, thrust, and motive is to join forces with the angelic beings who seek to bring humanity into a golden age of light, love, prosperity and goodness.

Despite it being rarely found in its highest form nowadays, and despite the fact that most of us fall far short of the ideal of the great masters of wisdom, nonetheless we can begin to make efforts in this direction. We can utilize the sacred powers of thought and will, intention and imagination in this great task of liberating humanity from darkness. The greatest power in the world is the power of loving thought, and we can all use our love-inspired thoughts and prayers to help create a better world for ourselves and future generations. This is the way of divine magic, the path of light and love that liberates us all. For divine magic is the path of conscious and deliberate goodness. 

Divine magic is the magic of light, love, harmony, and goodwill. It is the way of the saints and heavenly masters. Whenever you truly endeavor and act to bring about better conditions for plants, animals, and especially other people, you are on the path of this higher luminous divine magic. Your efforts are a blessing to the world. And by the mysterious laws of reciprocity that govern life, your efforts to help the world lead to you being uplifted into a more heavenly state. You find that you are living in more beautiful conditions without even trying. And in your heart arises a feeling of happiness. – Emory Michael
